So i'm getting a job over the summer to make some money to buy a new laptop, and I need some advice. I'm not the best with laptop specs, my theory is more RAM the better, but I know there is more to that. My number 1 hold back with this, is the price. The most I could go is about 1,800 US dollars. The alienware is an exception. I would prefer to spend less than that, because with the YouTube channel I just started I would like to get an external harddrive to save my videos on.

The Choices:
Toshiba Qosmio

I like this one because it looks cool, decent price, and it packs a punch ;)

Alienware M14x
Website- http://configure.us.dell.com/dellst...el_id=alienware-m14x-r2&c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19
After all the upgrades a crazy cost of 1,911 US dollars.. If it wasn't for the powerhouse this laptop has it would be out because of the price...

HP Envy 15
Website- http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/shopping/cto.do
I have always liked the simple design of the laptop. After all the upgrades I went through the total cost was 1,778 US dollars. Thats with the best Graphics card and 16 gb of RAM

Please help me choose which one and let me know if you have any suggestions! Keep in mind I would like a top of the line graphics card and at least 8 gb of RAM

You know you could get a new macbook pro 15 inch screen full options just for 1,700 ;)
If your used for the windows software and stuff,i think you should get a decent desktop if you wanna be a hardcore gamer.
And you could keep your laptop if you wanna like take it along to surf the net or something while away,or smth. like that :D

Best one of those is of course the alien ware if you want a Perfect gaming computer! :D

Alienware is also expensive because of the name, im more of buying a less expensive one, and then upgrade the crap out of it with the money u saved :D i think the toshiba is a great thing :)

But dont forget, a desktop is and will always be much stronger then a laptop, for a much lower price. If u wanna go for hardcore gaming go for a desktop, if u wanna keep it compact go for the laptop, but dont expect desktop preformance :)

See I knew the toshiba was nice XD. And I really would prefer a laptop

then go for the toshiba, looks cool and has almost the same parts as the alienware :D And about apple, it is so insanely incompatible with evrything i know, i really prefer a personal computer above a apple machine allthough windows is somewhat unstable sometimes :p

I was looking at the toshiba again and I really want that 16gb of RAM. I know its only 4gb more, but its 4gb more i can allocate to my minecraft :P

I would go with the alienware
lol I need to update this. The Alienware is out because of the price. It's actually a hard choice for me right now. I could get a pimpin(XD) toshiba qosmio with a great graphics card and 12gb of RAM, Orr I can get the awesome looking envy 15 with a full HD display, 16gb processor, and the best graphics card possible..

maybe a good tip, got it from a friend :) ask the shop if the videocard is mounted on the motherboard yes or no (go for no, because onboard sucks), and ask where the videocard is placed. if it is under the touchpad, go find other laptop. with the videocard under the touchpad u will get a small bbq :D best place for the videocard is under the keyboard or slightly higher.

Thanks for the tip! I never knew that lol. I also have a question about harddrives. Can I get a separate hard drive, but have it in the computer?

some of laptops can, sometimes they have 1 ssd and 1 normal drive build in :) dont know if these 3 u may want to buy got that option. if they havent, u always can make 2 partitions.
