It's actually not that hard to do. And you don't need to know how to code java to do it
. Open your minecraft.jar with winrar or 7zip and find splashes.txt. I believe it's fairly close to the top. And you can just customize it 
To code a mod you need to know some basic java language, which i'm guessing you didn't
. It's not extremely hard once you learn that though.
