Hello, i was on the server the over day and a player said he was griefed. One of your new mods was asking how to use hawkeye so i told him. I am a supporter and cnt use it but he got the hang of it just fine. He rollbacked some other grief and then when he went to fix this MASS grief hawkeye wouldnt work. This is why i suggest a plugin called "Core Protect" it is a plugin that allowed griefing rollbacks just like hawkeye however i have found more reliable. Its easy to use and does NOT require an "sql Database" just put the jar into the folder and your set! I hope you liked my story :)

Hawkeye doesn't require a MySQL database.
That's LogBlock, which is better in my opinion.

Helps me, // the pickaxe to destroy a block and to find out who destroyed another.
:P
Bedrock is impossible to obtain via normal play, I'm not sure why it's coded like that. :l

Wait what exactly is a MySQL database? I just started my server and tried to install logblock and it came up. What is it and why do I need it?

false, both require a DB

mysql is a database engine, that takes information and stores it into tables. mysql is made for storing lots of information entries, and then being able to query those entries for information quickly. in this case, it logs all log breaks/places/modifications so that we can look them up/roll them back.

To Blayde They Both Require Datebase Core Protect Doesent And I Have Found it More Reliable On My Server

being that it doesn't use a database engine, it scares me. mySQL is brilliantly fast on lookups, and i'm not sure how he logs his information, weather in a single file, or multiple files, or what. so i'm not sure how the speed on lookup is, the reliability of the database in the event of a corruption, or the continuing drive space it would require.

Hawkeye is fast and reliable for us (when all the bugs are worked out). we'll most likely stay with it.

Either HawkEye, Guardian, OR LogBlock.
There are also the risks outlined in Blaydes post.
We really don't need another griefing plugin.

Thank you for the suggestion however.

ok blayde maybe the reason i dont like hawkeye is when i had it on a datebase on my serv it only worked half of the time and when there was mass grief it didnt want to work :P i had to start a new map

oh and forgot to metion coreprotect uses sqllite wich doesent require you to do anything

If u want to workaround that glitch, you install MySQL on to a ram drive on your server. Then the db can keep up with the damage.

SQLite is just a dumbed down version of MySQL. I'd prefer the dedicated one personally.

ohh i forgot that with creeperhost they have didicated databases :P much more reliable than the way i used it
