Idk. I just downloaded it myself, and I don't like it whatsoever, it's very ugly and sorta takes away the "nostalgia" feeling that the Minecraft launcher had before if that makes any sense. I think this is for like mods and stuff, or maybe something to do with 1.6 that Minecraft couldn't do...

Yeah, like Cream said, they're probably actually doing something to stop cracked players... so like 50-60% of FTG's playerbase ._. But pirates are smart like that, they'll find a way to make a cracked version in no time. As far as I know, it hasn't happened yet.
